Veterinarians were slow to react when leptospirosis and Lyme disease became problems for suburban dogs. We knew getting them to act would take more than a pamphlet. To do it, we asked veterinarians to do the unthinkable: play the part of diseases and infect the dogs they work to protect. Not literally, of course. But in a fully interactive 8-bit VR game called Pet Threat.

Classic ‘Game Over’ messages reminded players of the threat of leptospirosis and Lyme disease.
We launched Pet Threat at VMX (the largest gathering of vets). The gameplay stood out, drew a crowd and spurred understanding of the issue and how Elanco products address it. We even made collectible pins of the game’s canine characters. They were must-have swag at the convention.
Veterinarians interacted with the Pet Threat experience for over 2,870 minutes. They had a blast while learning about ULTRA Duramune® and Duramune Lyme® in the game, emphasizing Elanco’s life-saving message.
